Rules and Regulations...

Does anyone know where I can go to get a list of rules and regulations for modifications (i.e. underbody lights or interior lighting) to vehicles for federal and/or individual states? I have gone to the Arizona state sight and looked up the information there but they do not have a specific law pertaining to this subject. From what I could tell they do not have any laws pertaining to the color of headlamps either but then I may not be looking in the correct spot. I would call my local police station but I am at work now and can not call them. Thanks in advance for any answers.

you have to look in your state statutes, thank god the PT Cruiser club in tampa posted all of the statutes in florida regarding strobes, neons, and other lights

It can be really difficult to find all the statutes for things like this as they can be scattered all over the place. Rarely if ever will you find any statute that will pertain directly to neon lights, etc. Typically, it all has to be inferred from other statutes regarding lighting. You also won't always get a good answer by calling the local police department as most don't like any of those things and will recommend you not use them even though law may not completely forbid it...

you won't get a straight answer from cops unless you know one well, i had a sheriff straight up tell me that he would not tell me the law because he didn't think i should have them...but you need to look up state statutes regarding vehicle lighting, thats where it will all be, but the only laws most likely are about color or lights

Wow I just checked AZ website and it' s not that good. At least here in NY they might not tell you the law on the web however they do have a book on vehicle and traffic law that you can pick up from a local DMV office. Maybe you should contact your dmv and see if they have a book like that. All states I believe should have this its just a matter of finding out who gives it out. You might also try calling up a driving school and asking them about the book and the law for they should know. Forget asking the police, most will only tell you when they are giving you that $150 ticket that you have broken the law.

[sarcasm]
I really like how we are expected to follow the law, yet finding what the law is can be the most difficult task one has ever tried.
