Injector Protector

Today I went up to my work and picked up a bottle of Lucas Fuel injector cleaner. So far I haven't noticed a difference, but I'm hoping that I will soon. Anyone have any luck with this stuff?

Also, I was going to be doing an oil change soon, and was wondering if it would be a good idea to use 4.5 qts of Mobil 1, and one quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer, because I've heard that's a good idea and that it works wonders. Give me your input...your two cents if you will...

Duncan

I've heard good things from people who use oil additives on regular oil but not much from people who use synthetic because well, they deem the synthetic does it's job and the additive isn't necessary, and, were it my car, I wouldn't use it if I were using synthetic.

I have found the Lucas Oil Stabilizer to be as advertised. I have used it in several of my engines with good results (less oil consumption and better oil pressuer). The fuel additive however has made my Check Engine light come on in my Ram 1500. I think it did something to one of my Oxygen sensors. I do not recommend using it.

ive had good luck with oil additives in the past, but its important to note that DC released a TSB for 2nd gens about the importance of _not_ adding any oil supplements whatsoever..

I doubt it, because a lot of people do a lot of stupid things...

Yes, they are, but it's not from the manufacturer, it's usually from the installer. This is news to me as of yesterday because my brother failed emissions 2 years ago (test taken every other year) and so he took it to a shop and they replaced only the o2's and voila, he passed. Now, he goes back there this year, fails miserably, goes back to the guy who did it and the guy tells him there is indeed a warranty until the next time you take emissions, and if you fail, come back and we'll replace them no charge. Maybe it's mechanic-specific, but well, there's an example for ya.

Use the larger Mobil 1 filter. The M1-301.

Fuel injector cleaner is usually a maintenance thing, not a performance additive

In other words you wont "feel" a difference unless your car was running VERY poorly to begin with

The benefit/purpose is to keep your injectors clean

Here's a really good article on some testing done with Lucas oil additive:

The "Bob is the Oil Guy" forum is a really great source of information on tribology (study of oils and lubrication):

WOW!! Thank you, that has completely changed my mind about using Lucas Oil Stabilizer with Mobil 1, or with any oil for that matter. Thank you So much. Basically, like that study said, "Why put additives in an already good designed oil?" Maybe I'll stick to going All Synthetic All Natural. Thank you again.
