Question Ticking in 3.9 any ideas?

I recently bought a Dodge Van with a 3.9 V6 with about 128K miles. It has the strangest ticking only after it warms up about 5 to 10 minutes. I changed the water pump {needed a new one} and removed the top idler pulley and it still does it. It sounds almost like the old Dodges that had a flapper in the exhaust that would break and flop around. It seems to be coming from the engine or exhaust right near the distributer. But given the fact that it starts at just about the same amount of time after a cold start up, it almost seems thermostatically controlled. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated. Even if it's from another site or what ever. It seems to run great and the plugs all look clean and it doesn't sound like any rod knock I've ever heard.
THANKS

the ticking is probably the heat valve opening to let warm air into the intake tube so that it runs better until it warms up...and yes, it is thermo controlled

Sounds similar to a noise I had a few weeks ago...

Locate the PURGE / EVAPORATIVE SOLENID [near the airbox, looks like a mini trash can on the 2.7L]

Disconnect the wire harness feeding it. Start engine [expect CEL] and hopefully the noise will cease to exist. Replace P/Evap Sol.

My 2.7L solenoid replacement cost was about $45

Good luck.
