Rotor Jiggles

Ok so I bought the Brake Caliper paint kit at Autozone for $15..So I could paint my calipers so they would look good with the 20's..(pics will be up when im done with the whole car)

I painted the drivers side and then i went over the the passenger side..I was cleaning the Caliper and the rotor when all of a sudden the rotor moved...so i grabbed hold of it and i was able to shake it..i went over to the drivers side and tried and it wouldnt budge..I mean..I can shake my rotor..it seems as if the only thing that is not makin it shake more violently is the Caliper..it seems as if the caliper is holding it on..IS THIS NORMAL or do i have a serious problem...

If this is a problem thank god for caliper painting.

Thanks for your help

the only thing that holds the rotor on, is the wheel itself. If you remove the caliper you can pull the rotor right off the car. Its normal, and nothing to worry about. Your drivers side rotor is probably rusted slightly to the hub preventing it from moving around with the wheel off.

If your calipers can move around, thats another story....

which caliper paint kit did you get? was it the Dupli-color ceramic brake paint system? if so let me know if you are happy with it, I bought it to paint my rotors and was very unhappy with it, the system was nowhere near the quality as G2 in my opinion but I am just wondering if perhaps I got a bad kit.

yes i got the duplicolor kit simply because it was only $15..I wanted to get high temp spray paint..but i think now that it is easier to use a brush anyway..

I have done the front two calipers and i am satisfied with the results..Im not thrilled but satisfied..The kit kinda sucks because you can see some of the brush strokes and it doesnt go on easily over another coat of paint.

But for what i want it has done its job...Im adding another coat when i get home and then i will be doing my rear calipers.

I also dont think anyone could notice any imperfections unless they were less than 6 inches away..so lookin down through the rims people will be impressed

but i can understand that you would think the kit sucks if you have used another brand

EDIT: i am painting my rotors black(the parts that rusted)

kinda like this?

Yeah the G2 kit also brushes on but hardens up to be a solid smooth surface, even with three coats of the duplicolor I wasn't really happy with the results
