LX ATC mod?

I was at a dodge dealer looking at the srt 8 charger and noticed it had everything but ATC. I asked the guy there and he said that it isn't an option. So my question is does the 300 come with it as an option and could it be swapped similarly to how we have done with Inrepids that didn't come with it?

No ATC would really piss me off if I forked out the money for that car in the future.

You don't NEED a display for ATC........it has knobs for that.

Ahh so it is ATC its just a cheap shitty version of it. Thats unfortunate but hey it still provides the functionality so thats the important part.

Thats ridiculous, I've never seen ATC with no display. Anyway, I looked at a pic of an MTC 300 and thats pic Gorm posted is definitely ATC. I looked at some pics of the charger srt-8 too and it also has the same dual zone system as that 300c so is it possible that you didn't realize it was ATC because there was no screen?

You don't need a screen. It's alot easier to use, and this one is actually dual zone unlike the systems of old. And yes you can set it to be fully automatic.

Yes ATC is optional on the SRT Charger, as SRT Group I:
Air Conditioning with Dual Zone Auto Temp Control
Air Filtering
Automatic Headlamps
Heated Front Seats
Power Front Windows w/One-Touch Up & Down Feature


ATC is standard on the SRT-300C (Think Upscale), although side airbags and air filtration is optional (which should be standard).

Although I'd personally would have a Magnum SRT-8 (it's got power and room to spare!), even with the 5.7 the car moves effortlessly, and I could imagine even more so with the 6.1L.

Thats the the group 2 option, ive driven a few of those, i call it mtc since its ridiculous to use vs our ATC. Our atc btw is very similar to Gms, ie caddy. The new lx parts are all "mercedes style ATC". Even the cruise is mercedes inspired, my friends 94 c220 is full of lx parts. However the new lx are way behind the current mercedes interiors and instrument clusters.

The new ATC is crap but decent looking since there are so many knobs. Mercedes has had this design since 1988. The srt8 atc also has the dual zone over the stock mtc which looks very similar to our ghetto intrepid MTC (single setting, not dual zone).

Acuras also have a similar atc in their luxury 1.7el canadian honda civic or what is now the CSX.

I don't see how it's that hard to use. You turn a few dials and set it. No buttons to press. Having lit up LCD screens doesn't signal luxury by anymeans nor does having numerous buttons to press. (Pontiac anyone?)

Yes the LX's use some MB parts. It's how they have tilt and telescope steering wheels (finally for Chrysler!), and other odds and ends. (ESP..ect)

Of course it's not the MB Interior nor instrument cluster either, the entire purpose is that when you get a Mercedes your to be getting that better interior and other high tech features you do pay for it..., you keep Chrysler Group separate from the MB group.

Im sure most ppl agree the screen is much better and looks very nice vs the knobs. Plus the screen eliminates all of those settings to use with a displayed temp. I would prefer the screen over the knobs anyday.

The knobs are probably more durable and last longer so thats why DC is using them now. But the look is MB clone. (look at the new c series).

But with Dr. Z working for Chrysler... I think we are only going to see more and more similarities between Chrysler vehicles and Mercedes Benz vehicles.

That sounds like a good thing because of the MB reputation as well engineered and reliable vehicles but I don't know how attractive german luxury car design is going to be to the old school mopar fans. I know alot of guys that buy an american car because they want just that, if they wanted a european car they would buy one.

I dunno, i would take a euro over an US. Euros just run it, small engines and great reliability, easy to fix.

Its just a matter of time until we will all be forced to switch to smaller CI engines due to gas costs and euros will be right there with TDI.

I personally agree with you. I think its great to buy a car thats clearly american, but with the reliability and engineering of the euros. I think in the near future that may set Chrysler apart from Ford & GM. I can deal with stuff like the ATC controls if it means a better built car. To me, the charger is no doubt an american car. Theres no way the germans would make something with so few curves!

They're pretty far today too, if you think about it the merger into DC has brought a lot of pros and cons but in any case i think DC is one of the main companies to use a lot of outsourced parts like the headlights and other electronic components which are ignored by other american car companies (made in house/locally contracted)

Even when u compare the cars physically, chryslers look much better than fords and GMs out today. GM is bad in my book with their timing chains in everything. Ford just has ugly cars (US, euro fords rule -- i think they are vw/audis there LOL).

But even today, i would buy a Chrysler over a ford or GM anyday.

That being said my next car will be Japanese. Im really liking the looks and performance of the 06 g35 coupe.
