Exclamation 2002 Concorde cycling door locks

I have a 2002 Chrysler Concorde with 23,000 miles. Tonight, the automatic door locks started cycling. They continuosly lock, unlock, lock. Due to this issue, the interior lights will not turn off unless the car is turned on. I removed the fuse for the automatic locks, and the lights still would not shut off after the 60 seconds or whatever the timeframe is for them to shut off, so i removed the fuse for the interior lights as well until i can have this fixed. It is still under warranty, but i would like to know if anyone has an idea what may be causing this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Would guess; a short in a lock switch, maybe bad connection, keyfob stuck on lock/unlock, problem with bcm sending lock/unlock, maybe even the circuit breaker for the door locks.

You could try disconnecting the battery for 10minutes or so to see if that helps at all if there is a 'gremlin' in the bcm/data bus.

Thanks for the replies. Could a weak battery cause this? Here is why i ask...

I disconnected the battery for a few minutes and reconnected. Everything worked fine, then i took it for a drive. I stopped to fill up and while doing so, i left the drivers door open (which would keep the interior lights on), within 1 or 2 minutes, i heard the locks cycling again. I, then continued to drive it for 15 minutes or so and came home. Everything seems to be ok for the time being. Keep in mind that the cycling of the locks doesn't happen while the car is on. IT is only after i remove the key.

I tried looking at the battery, and the indicator is black. What color should the indicator be on top of batteries?

IF it is the battery, how do you access it? It isn't in the easiest location to get to.

ok do u have a lot of keys on your key ring and are the key ring heavy if so then u might have destroyed your ignition switch where u turn the key on to start the car. My mechanic told me many yrs ago not to have alot of keys on the key ring because of the weight of the key ring and the movement of the car will destroy the ignition switch down the road. This might be the problem with u. when u disconnected the battery for 15 min u resetted the computer codes. now when the key is out of the ignition u say locks start going crazy. inside the ignition switch the key is probably missing a tooth or something in there and its causing the locks to go nuts.

wait u said the battery indicator is black. that is a dealer battery. the dealer batteries dont last long at all. 4 yrs old i would replace the battery. The black indicator means cells are dieing and fluid inside battery is very low. its not a self maintence battery. Change battery. do the new battery first. then see how it works. if not then it might be what i said in the above message with the weight of the keys. But i would get a new battery before car completely dies somewhere and all u will get is a clicking sound. Then u know battery is dead for good. Dont want to get stuck anywhere. Our 00 voyager last month died it was a 6 yr old dealer battery. we got like more than we should out of a dealer battery. replaced battery with a die hard. car started right up. Battery was under $100. got a 100 month warranty on it a 30 month guarantee full replacement. So go for a battery before checking your ignition switch. goodluck

Well....after further review, the battery indicator in in fact green, not black.

As far as keys, i only have one key on the ring and that is for the car.

I removed the fuse that controls the locks and it will do until the dealer can look at it.

Again, thanks for the replies. We recently purchased this car and i must say that they are a sweet ride. We bought the Limited, so it does about everything, which really means nothing except that there are more things to malfunction :icon_bigg. The guy that owned it before us was the original owner and did nothing but drive it to the store and back to his heated garage. I don't think i have ever seen him keep a car for more than 3 or 4 years.

Have you gone through the process described in the manual to turn off the auto door lock feature? If you move the dimmer switch around does it make any difference? A BCM failure is not out of the question but I have never heard of one failing before, I would imaging a bad relay or bad wiring in the CCD bus somewhere.

Welcome to the site.

Lots of helpful people out there, any question you got, you can most likely get it answered here. Glad I found this site when I got my second trep, I've learned a lot about these cars.

I have no idea about your problem unfortunately, I'm one of the people that comes here ASKING questions, I'm handicapped when it comes to anything mechanic or electrical about cars.

Good luck, and welcome again!

You should try leaving the remote at home and driving away or taking the battery out. The lights dont come on if you use the door switch so i dont think its a problem with that, and its not the door switch cause the door open light isnt on right?
