car wash dilemma

does anyone know how to reattach the black piece on the back door of a 2g trep. this is the black part where it has the chrome "se, es, r/t" applied. i went to the car wash and the dryer blew it off. it was already loose prior to the wash, so not sure if i need a new one or not. do i need to remove anything to access this part? can i get one from a yard or new from dealer?? TIA.

If I remember right it attaches with screws from the inside of the window track, and there are some plastic clips that hold it on as well. The clips are probably broken. I would check a price at the dealer and if its outrageous check one at the boneyard.

I've never taken mine apart, but i would assume the screws/clips would be under the black trim piece toward the bottom rear of the rear windows. This would be on the inside of the car near the rear seats. Just a thought.

Just took a look at mine. From looking at it and refreshing my memory, you have to remove the inner door panel, then the little black plastic cover on the top left of the door panel. The window glass has to come out-- because there are screws that hold the bottom part of the trim--- that runs along the bottom of the window opening. There are 4 of them. The glass wont go down far enough to gain access to them. There are some screws too on the top, in the window track itself. The larger black piece on the rear is held in by some clips and a screw or two (couldnt tell without actually taking mine out). The whole trim, around the window front and back, comes out in one piece.
Good luck.

mine got blown off in a car wash also

So I found the part and used some roofing tar to hold er back on -- strong cheap and water proof

make sure you don't get slopy and no one will ever know

or maybe another job for Shoe Goo !!

i normally wash my car on my own also, but was first day back at school and i did not want to be driving a dirty car. anyway, it was loose prior to the wash, and i simply rebent the tabs and it fits better now, than before. only prob now is the faded color of those pieces.
