00 intrepid 2.7/ i need to disarm alarm system how???

hi, i recently bought a 2000 intrepid with a 2.7 litre. i started it up and it ran fine i drove it for about half an hour then i turned it off to get gas and it would only turn over it wouldnt start. then after 15 minutes itstarted and i tried to make it home but it kept on quitting every minute or so then ide have to wait 10-15 minutes. i got it home then the next morning i drove it to chrysler. they put it on the computer but it showed up good they didnt know what it was but they said it was electrical. i then decided to change the battery so i took it to costco and in the parking lot i took the old battery out and put the new one in. when i plugged the new one in the car honked once. i thought nothing of it, i think started the car and it ran fine. i turned it off again and locked the doors and went into costco and bought a hotdog. when i came out i unlocked the doors and the bloody alarm started going off! i didnt even know the car had an alarm! i quickly unplugged the horn fuse and had it towed to my house. has anyone had an experience like this??? i cant figure out why my cars crapping out (reagarding the problem before i changed the battery) and now i dont know how to disarm the security system!! help!

The Chrysler dealership can disable it with the DRB tool. Otherwise you can replace the BCM and the PCM with one's that don't have the alarm option on. Do you have the sentry key, the red light in the dash?

LOL at the poll options....I voted for "??". I think it's strange that a lot of ppl lately ask how to disable alarms and antitheft features, suspicious to say the least since they all have only one post usually. That's what makes me keep away from answering these kind of posts, don't need to show everybody over the internet how to steal our cars.

LOL me too HEHE ??

My dads silhouette did that when he had the battery replaced, during the swap the mechanic must have missed the pole and then as the car was being lowered the alarm went off for a good 15 min.. it must be some anti theft system that picks up a power drop.

This was at a gm dealer so they fixed it somehow, i imagine the chrysler dealership knows how to deactivate the feature. My ghetto SXT has none of that alarm stuff HEHE....

Interesting that you say you didn't know your car had a factory alarm. And even more interesting that the "dealer" didn't find anything when you towed it in. I'll stick with Terminator on this one.

The BCM and PCM remember that the alarm was active when the battery was removed. If the alarm is active and the battery is removed, to start the car you have to push the unlock button on the fob to enable the starter otherwise the car will not start and the alarm will activate.
