RB1 vs RB4 ?

Is one unit BETTER over the other? I'm thinking about installing navigation into my '00 R/T however I'd rather hear opinions & facts from the group before I make my decision.

Presumably the rb4 does-not include a map, it only includes turn-by-turn directions ... is this correct?

Will the RB1 fit in a 2000 Intrepid? I may be interested in this. I know it fits 2002 and up but I am not sure about the 2000 model. It would be better than the Verizon navigation I can get on my phone.

You just need the cable adaptor kit available from the dealer or other places. And verify you have a Pci bus connector in your current wiring harness. The part # on the adaptor kit is 8220 7541 for putting a 2002+ 22pin radio in a 2001 or older car with 7 pin connectors. Should be under $25 even at the dealer.

I am running an RB4 an I like it for the Intrepid. Several reasons, the screen for the RB1 is small and you have to take your eyes offf the road to look at it, The RB4 has more watts output on the radio side. I also have a nav unit in my 05 300 and if the RB1 had that big of a screen it would be a no brainer. But each to his own that is why they make the different units.

the RB1 does everything the RB4 does, but it also has the map, which has been very useful when trying to get around a busy intersection.

The big plus of the RB4 is that you can take the nav disk out after setting up a route. The RB1 requires that the nav disk be in the unit at all time when using nav functions.

This means that you can listen to a CD with the RB4 but for all practical puposes you cannon not with the RB1 unless you are willing to shut off the nav to get a hit of Stinkfoot or someone else........

OTOH, both units will control a 4 or 6 disk external player (chrysler) so if you are going to spend $500++ on a nav unit, spend another $100 and get an external cd changer.

I was pretty sure you can pull the nav disc from the RB1 after setting up a route as well??? Problem is if you shut the car off at some point (like a rest stop)......you gotta reload the route.

Doesn't the RB1 save the route? My RB4 does.
