Question Sticking door handle

I have a 2001 2nd gen..... sometimes after I pull up on the (drivers) door handle, it will stick in the up position instead of springing back down on it's own, and then I have to push it down. If I don't push it down, then the door won't latch shut when I close it. I tried spraying some WD-40 down in the door mechanism, but it didn't do anything. Any one else had this problem? Know how I can fix it?

Your gonna need to take off the door panel and spray some lube on the hinge and spring. Don't use WD40. It won't last long. And, since your in your door. You can lube your window track. If you can find some Lith or silicone grease/lube. You'll be just fine. This stuff will stick well and stay put.

I'm having the same problem with my 2000 2.7L only with the back driver side door. I thought I would have to replace the handle but I got some spray spilicon lube I'll try sprayin in there.

You'l have to take the door panel off in order to get to the actua parts you want lubed. I have tried already and did nothing but get crap all over the car.

Well I took off my rear driverside door panel and sprayed silicon lube over everything and it still sticks in the up position... With a little help it springs back down but thats annoying me. Plus I doubt I'll be able to find a door handle in my same charchoal gray color. The spring still works just not when the handle is fully opened so... hmmm maybe just a new spring would do the trick?

Well thats odd. Was the spring rusty? Normaly when something is used. It wears the parts a bit so it has more slop to move. Not get tighter. I will give it some more thought.

maybe the spring got detached. and it feels like the spring is still hooked on to the hinge. the lube should of worked. check the big u or bolt that is connected to the body that the door closes on. It might be loose or moved a hair. also check the torx# 60 or 80 bolts that is holding the door on. they get loose also. if the door is off (not lining up) a hair could cause problems. make sure bolts are tight. hope some of this info helps too

when u open the door and the door is wide open does the handle work correctly or only when the door is completely closed and then your first opening causes the handle to stay open.

The handle works correctly as far as opening the door is concerned. It just stays in the up position. If I give it a little push it will sprng back down though.
