Was reprogramming fobs, somehow changed settings

I hoping someone can tell me what I stumbled upon here, and if there are known button combinations that turn on/off various car features.

A little while back, I got an EVIC to replace the OTIS in my 1999 LHS. The EVIC works fine as far as the compass, temp, MPG, etc go, but any settings I try to change such as honk horn on lock and so forth do not take. From reading the forum, I kind of expected this and wasn't surprised.

Today I was programming a couple of new keyfobs to my car as I only got one when I bought the car. I won't go into the stupidity of the screw ups I managed while trying to accomplish this, but an interesting thing did happen.

At one point, after a failure where I ended with two working key fobs and one non-working fob, I realized while testing the two working ones that horn no longer beeped on lock and the lights didn't flash. Later, after finally succeeding in programming all three fobs, the car went back to honking the horn and flashing the lights when locking.

Are there known key combinations on the fobs that will reprogram various aspects of the car's behavior like described above?

The menu on an EVIC will not work in a 99. You have to do the proceedure in the owners manual.

Yes, there are certain key presses that you can do that'll turn off and on certain options.

Some that I can recall is whether or not you have to hit the trunk open button once or twice to open the trunk. Whether ALL doors will unlock upon the first press of the button instead of once for the driver's and twice for all doors. You can also program if both the horn and the lights go off when locking or just the horn or just the lights or nothing at all.

There's a list on this site somewhere if you want to do a search.

Found that old post with the horn instructions. Well, it may not be the one you were thinking of, but it worked! Thanks much!
