Trans fluid

long story short, my pan is leaking and the shop that fixed it in april won't fix without charging me again as i cannot produce receipt. i somehow disappeared in there computer system, blah, blah, blah. anyway, i will have to take it somewhere else. the original shop used valvoline atf and i was wondering if the next shop does not use this, and uses some other form of atf, will this hurt the tranny?? TIA.

Should not be a problem as long as the fluid is compatible with ATF +3 or ATF +4.

did you pay by cash or credit card? if you used a credit card then call your card company and first of all ask for a copy of the full transaction and then file a protest.

If you used AmEx (good move!!) you can use their one-year purchase guarantee to put even more pressure on the shop. Some, but not a lot, visa/mc banks offer a similar program, not as good as the one from AmEX, but some pressure is better than none at all.
