Reitterating what the others have said.
I had horrible car insurance payments up until the last 2 or 3 years, when I started to drive a lil more sane.
I had: '84 Ford Escort Wagon, '88 Plymouth Horizon, '96 Plymouth Breeze just to name a few, and I still had insanely high car insurance premiums. At one point it was a little over $200. per month!
It's not the cars you drive, it's how you drive them.
For me, 6 speeding tix, a reckless driving, 2 accidents, and others will get you severly bad rates in a jiffy!
If you raise your deductable, to say $1000., that may lower your rates more than switching cars.
