Smells rich on cold starts. Leaky injector?

I noticed recently my car smells like it's running rich for a little while when I start it cold. I also noticed that when sitting all night the next day it seems slightly harder to start. I mean it starts right up, it just seems to not do it quite as quickly. I also have a little bit of soot on my exhaust tip. Now, I'm thinking it's a leaking injector filling up the cylinder with fuel while the car is off and that's why it's running rich for a little bit. My plan is to pull the plugs and see if any have signs of a rich condition, but does anynoe have any other ideas or do you think I'm correct in my guess?

You probably need to change your spark plugs! Use Champion Double Platinum or NGK Laser Platinum plugs.

Stay away from Bosch......

Check your air filter and grab a can of Seafoam Deep Creep or Mopar Combustion Chamber Cleaner and clean your IAC passage and throttle body. Run the whole can through the IAC passage while the engine is at full operating temp. Enjoy the smokescreen! There is a reason we call this tune up procedure "killing squirrels"!

Then run a bottle of Techron Concentrate Plus at the next fillup. Get the big bottle that treats 20gal. Add it just before you fill up at the station so it can mix with the fuel.

The next step is to stop buying CRAP fuel if you do. Go to www.toptiergas.com and find a GOOD gas station. I use Chevron and Texaco.

Fuel injector(s) would be my first guess also. My wife's old sebring had that raw fuel odor in her cold exhaust for quite some time before one of her injectors finally went bad. Smell your oil also. An injector that leaks overnight will not only leak into a cylinder, but also past the rings and into the oil. You will start to notice a fuel smell in your oil quicker than normal. I could change her oil and in a few weeks it would start to have a fuel odor to it. Its going to be tough to figure which one without any codes showing yet. Her's showed up as a misfire on cylinder 5 (P0305).
