True E Hollywood Story
First of all thanks to my buddy R0meo021 going the extra mile when there was reports of me being in an accident. That is keeping it real, what a great friend (even though he was trying to secretly take my place at home).
But seriously folks thanks for all the love sent in the now infamous threads about me being in an accident. I knew you guys cared but I really appreciate all the love and concern for my well being.
The true fact of the matter is that I have been extremely busy at work with year end tasks and working the second job at Circuit City. I have not been on due to this and the fact that I do not have internet access from home currently (another long story). Also since I have had so much work I have not been accessing the site from work, that and having my manager walk up over the week of Christmas and tell me that it was the third time he came to my desk and I was on DI.net....LOL
This is what happened recently with the posts about the accident. There is a co-worker whom works down the hall and has a Stratus so naturally I have told him about DI.net and we talk about our cars and some of the cars on the site. Well it appears that the computer that I had before my current one was put back in service in his office without being wiped (They swap the computer at night as to not disrupt our work). Anyway when I was advised by my daughter last night that there was concern about my health by site members (see R0meo021) I wondered what that was all about and she then proceeded to tell me about the post and that R0meo021 sent her copies of the posts. I was pissed thinking who would play such an evil trick. I then sent R0meo021 a text message letting him know that I was okay and would get all of this straighten out this morning but to have an admin disable my account until then (Thanks again Veeborg - you rock!) So I arrive a work today after racking my brain last night about what PCs I have utilized to access the site and there are only 4 PCs other than the home PC (current PC, laptop that I took to Vegas, old PC and laptop at Circuit City) No one has access to current PC, laptop internet settings were cleared after trip, Circuit City laptop setting cleared after every use, so that left the old PC. Well I get in this morning and check the database and find that the PC has been redeployed to be a mail gateway for one of the smaller apps in the hospital. I then go to the area where it has been redeployed (office of the Stratus owner) and when I access the PC it has not been wiped per our SOP before being redeployed. I am able to log on to DI.net automatically as well as my other forums that I visit. At this point I am pissed mainly at myself because I did not practice proper security and ensure that my ids and passwords were not saved, but I was also upset that someone would utilize this information and make false posts. Now I have a dilemma that I will rectify in about an hour when the individual gets to work. I can not really make too much of a fuss about the incident as I should not be accessing the site from work. But I am going to make a huge stink about my old PC being redeployed without being wiped. I am then going to pull my "buddy" aside and have a man to man with him as he is the only one that would know some of the information in the posts that have been made.
1. Knows my son's name
2. Knows how I love to attend local meets
3. knows R0meo021 loves my wife and daughter (well everyone knows that)
4. Knows how much I love Gaze's car
5. Knows about the items I was looking to purchase.
BTW the same machine has my paypal information saved and someone ordered a $100 purse.
If you are accessing the site from anywhere but home ENSURE that you clear your internet history, delete cookies, delete the cache and do not save your passwords. You would have thought I knew all this being that I work in the IT department but sometimes you take things for granted. Not anymore.
Thanks again for all the concern by everyone. Special thanks to R0meo021 and Veeborg in helping me get the True Hollywood E story out to the people. I will be back on the site once the workload decreases.
