Tier one gas is supposed to be specially formulated (detergents) and recommended by some of the auto manufacturers. Off the top of my head Shell, Texaco and I think Phillips sell tier one fuel. Its supposed to be better for your engine.

I started filling with Shell gas a little while back (it's usually more money).........IDK, just makes me feel better about the gas I'm using.

I've been using QT gas for years and it was one of the first to meet the standard.

They have a little more info on their site: http://www.quiktrip.com/gasoline/toptier.asp

I'm sure we can all thank El Presidente for the EPA quality requirement drop ... :(

I'm really surprised that Amoco/BP isn't on that list.

Well I guess I'm SOL as none of the retailers listed are available to me. I always used to get Shell but both the stations that I drive by closed. I'll stick with the Sunoco or Mobil I've been using, it must be better than the no-name stuff.

I agree, I am frightened to fill up with the no name stuff.

Ah. See, in my vocabulary, "tier 1" is completely different that "top tier". Hence my confusion.

Garage
Shell every tank. Our local Sheriff's dept. operates a sub station out of a Shell here in town. All the cops gas up here. I guess the top tier thing has something to do with it.
I've always used Shell. My mechanic buddys told me a long time ago not to use that shitty Hess gas in my car. lol

Remember this? Haven't used Shell or Texaco since. Pretty much always use Amoco anyway.

I've always stayed away from Hess because the one near my house has wicked shitty nozzles that don't fit in my car correctly.

Me...I'm a hardcore Sunoco man. 99% of the time I fill up at the one right across from said Hess station. They don't make you prepay (unless it's dark) and the people there are pretty cool.
