2nd gen se badge location

a few houses down, theres been a red 2nd gen in the driveway lately. i hope the guy traded in his honda on it bc the hondas been awol since the trep has shown up. his honda was pretty ghetto. he had an ekko front license plate, limo to mirror fade tint, crappy generic 17s, heated springs (think they were heated because wheel to fender lip clearance was a lil diff on each wheel well). anyways i havent walked over there and looked at it close yet, but i have noticed it has the ES badge on the trunk but not on the rear door location. my es is a 98 so i dunno if this is a new car thing, or maybe a clone. it has no fogs, or sunroof but i havent gotten a good enough look to see leather or cloth yet. so do the newer rides have the es emblem on the trunk next to INTREPID?? i want to write www.dodgeintrepid.net on a peice of paper and stick it under his wiper... lol. ive done this several times hahaha

IIRC no fogs means no ES. Of course, it could have been cheap-fixed at some point w/an SE bumper.

BTW - The SE/ES/SXT badges were moved to the trunk in '02.
The R/T has the "3.5L Magnum" badge on the trunk and still has R/T on the front doors but no "DODGE" emblem on the doors as the 2000-01 had ...

The trunk badging didn't start til 2001 for the SE. Before that..I believe they had badges on the back rear window trim panel. Some ES models in those years had an oval exhaust tip also to stnad out. I'm probably wrong..but that's what I remember and anyone that knows more can point it out. You could get a base ES from 1998-2000 which had the 2.7L. Many of those didn't have fog lights. The premium ES came with the 3.2L and the other goodies including a fold down rear seat. I remember this from buying my 1999. There was a $2k difference between the ES trim levels.

Oh right, forgot about the early "base" ES models but if the badge is on the trunk it's not one of them. If it's an '04 that would explain a lot - they did a lot of strange things at the end of the production run.

Hell, just check the VIN for "D56" starting with the 5th digit ... ;)

D76 is right..an ES badge on the trunk if it's original means it's an 02-04. If there's a badge on the trunk there won't be one on the rear doors(assuming it's original) The other thing is an R/T for 00-01 had the emblems on the front door along with Dodge. The ES for the same years had the badge on the back of the rear door windows. In 2002 the R/T was by itself on the front door...no Dodge emblem and all the other trim levels had their emblems on the top right trunk back where the R/T has the 3.5 magnum badge like D76 points out.

03-04 will only come in ES/SXT/SE trim levels.....no R/T after 02
