Wierd idling

Ok i have noticed my trep 2.7 when at idle jumps from around 800 to 1200rpms, It will idle at 800 with the cooling fans on then jumps to about 1200 and cuts off the cooling fans, Is this normal? I did install a new full fan assembly about 5 months ago but its been doing this for the last 3 weeks or so.. Wierd

Is it in defrost mode when it does this, and/or A/C mode? Listen for the a/c clutch when the idle changes. That could be the reason for it.

most newer cars run the a/c compresser when you are running the defroster. I had to actually unplug the compressor in my 91 Escort one winter due to the bearings being burnt out.

lol, the button under the snoflake is the rear defroster. It runs the ac when the heater knob is in the front defrost position, and the air is blowing on the windshield.
