A friend of mine just bought a maroon trep, and she has all the options I wish mine had came with, but We cant find her CD changer. We looked everywhere. She has the Infinity Sail speakers and her tape deck has the CD change button to switch from disc to tape with the disc change buttons but I couldnt find the changer anywhere. She surely has one right? Where is the stock cd changer?
Not all Infinity systems came with a changer. She has a head unit with CD changer controls which is good. The changer always goes in the cubby pocket below the HU. If she has a pocket there then obviously no changer. Adding a changer is simple and you can go with either a 4 or 6 disc unit. The interconnect cable between the HU and the changer is dependeant on the year. 1998-2001 use one type cable and 2002 -2004 use a different one. The changers are the same for all years with one type of connector on them..it's the interconnect cable that's different.
Damn, thanks guys, I kinda thought that but a, yeah. That sucks, shes gonna be pissed cuz I told her there HAD to be one but it should be where the cubby hole was and since it wasnt then it was just somewhere else I guess haha. Damn tricksters.
There was a Chrysler changer accessory that was installed in the trunk. It's one of those 6 or 10 disc changers that were similar to the ones sold aftermarket 10 or so years ago. It's about the size of a standard ATX PC case and could be mounted horizontally or vertically. It's listed in my 2000 parts catalog. They were also available in several other Chrysler models besides the LH series.
Here's an example of one on Ebay. Says it's out of a 2001 PT Cruiser. THere are many similar to that with the round DIN connector that would work on just about any DC car up to 2001 that had changer controls on the HU. Trunk CD Changer
