NEED HELP!! w/Infinity speakers

Little help here.....

How much better are the Infinity's than the "base" speakers? My wife hates the ones in the Trep I just bought her and I have a chance to pick up a set of Infinity's for $50.

Buy them or put the $50 toward after markets?

She, buy the way is 40 yrs old and does NOT crank it up! Just wants a good Quality sound for Gwen Steffoni CD's.
But me, at 42 that is still the ONLY way to listen to OZZY!!!!!

"IF IT'S TOO LOUD, YOU'RE TOO OLD"!!

The more opinions the better..Thanks guy's and gal's!!!!!

Terry

Infinty references w/ the Infinty 7541a amp (4-channel running at 4-ohms) will amaze you! ), I find my self sometimes wondering what the fuck is around me, and noises going around me when Im listening at nite, lol, the sound quality, and "Q" settings are amazingly helpful!, You'll be glad, the fronts are 6.5" components w/ crossovers, and the rears ar 6x9 3-way, H.U. is a Kenwood KDC-MP-528, I just need subs now, maybe a set of 10's?, Alpine Type "R"'s?, 1500 WATTS each w/ 2 kenwood 1000x1 AMPS Running @ 2ohm's each, totalling out at 2500 watts from the amps to power everything up

go aftermarket. Infinities are good, you can probably do better for the price. Look for some MB quarts or JL on ebay.

OEM are crap. AS they say, you can't polish a turd. I have the forementioned infiniti 6x9's with the 7541a amp, and they would be more than adequate for you i think.

Im honestly going to have to disagree with all of you when your saying OEM is crap.

Wile original basic sterio systems may sound like garbage the newer systems being put in todays cars are anything but.

Look at the Bose Audio system being put into new Acuras. The Boston Acoustics system in new Chrysler products, or the Harmon/Kardon found in Lexus. Your going to tell me those OEM speakers are crap? In my opinion that OEM "crap" will always sound 100% better than aftermarket unless you go along the lines of MB Quart or Bostons high end line. Now back to the actual subject.

If you do not have the Infiniti amp already in place do not waste the money on the Chrysler/Infiniti Spatial Audio system speakers. The 6 1/2s located in the front are for base only, your not going to get any audio out of them besides thuds. Compair them to subwoofers if youd like.

Now if you do have the Spatial Audio system already in place dont waste the mass ammound of money on aftermarket crap. You'll find that the originals will be just as good and sound alot better with your system, plus there will be no need to wire your car, dick around with an amp, a line level imput, or aftermarket HU.

In short, if you have the original factor Infiniti Spatial Audio system in the car go with the factory, its cheaper and requires alot less bull shit.

If you dont, then have at the aftermarket.

We are refering to the OEM speakers in our Intrepids. They are definitely crapola.

while newer systems are getting better, they still aren't as good as most aftermarket. Most oem's use paper cones, paper or cheap foam surrounds, and many have no separate tweeter at all. Aftermarket on the other hand uses quality materials including alumium, poly materials, silk and titanium.

I totally agree. My mom's maxima has a bose system. It was a VERY expensive option. While it is much better than most stock systems, it can't compare to good aftermarket equipment at the same price.

I have a few friends who bought dodge vehicles with the infinity system and changed to various aftermarket speakers. Both amped and un-amped. In all cases they advised me (as well as those here on DI.net) to go with aftermarkets.
I have 2 sets of Infinity Reference sitting on my coffee table in boxes waiting for a nice day to install. They will be un-amped as i do not listed real loud.
I do not have the Infinity system so i will not be able to compare. I can tell you and agree that the speakers that came with my 2004 SE are less quality than I want.

I put infinity reference series in both my intrepid and f150. They are the best speaker for the price. But they need a little more power than that factory sterio can put out. My f150 has an alpine head unit that has good power output and the infinitys sound great. With the dodge factory sterio they were an improvement but not great. Then I put a sony head unit in the intrepid and then the infinitys really sounded good. I got them from crutchfield.

use a factory head and aftermarket speakers/amps......... You keep your vehicle integration and styling and still get real nice sound.
