Cold Start

Well I will start by saying I finally got my license, scored a 95/100. Anyway, I was wondering...when I turn the ignition I am getting a clicking sound for about 1-2 seconds before the engine starts. Might sound like "Duh, it's because it's cold" but all Winter it hasn't done that until very recently. What do you think?

If it matters it's a 97 sport.

Thanks

Congrats on the license!

Check the battery connections first. Make sure they are not corroded, and are good and tight. Have the battery tested too to be sure its ok. If those things check out, then the starter is most likely on its way out. The contacts may be worn in the solenoid.

agreed. if it clicks while the engine is running, that's just the valvetrain clicking from oil starvation. this goes away as coolant temp rises
