I think I'll install this first with my Infinity 12" thub before upgrading the stereo head unit.
Should I mount this directly on the sealed sub box or mount it to a side panel of the interior in the back? Probably a side panel..then I'd only have a pair of wires going to the sub box and could move it around easily.
If the box is stationary - mount the amp to the box.
If you plan to move the speaker box - then to the side panel.
I would suggest mounting the box to the car and the amp to the box... any need to move the speaker box?
That's a tough call. The Durango has third row seating that folds down and I can see that 3rd row up or down frequently enough. The area behind the 3rd row isn't very big in depth (Front to Back). I'm figuring setting the sub box facing towards one side of the truck and being able to move it forward with the 3rd row seats folded down if I need more space to transport something.
That's also why I'm thinking mounting the amp to a side panel so there will only be a wire pair to the sub box. With that setup I can completely remove the sub box and cap off the wire pair easily. If I have the amp mounted to the box there will be extra wiring to disconnect if I remove the box.
Need to check on the details/shape of the side panels for mounting. Probably hit up a junk yard to get a replacement panel to have if I remove the amp at a later date.
The Durango has the spare wheel in a carrier under the truck. In the cargo area there's a very shallow storage area underneath. Probably only 3-4" deep. Need to check actual measurements for that compartment.
The amp is pretty small in size: 8-1/4"W x 2-3/16"H x 7-15/16"D Reviews indicate it runs pretty cool so should be able to hide it behind a panel.
Ordered a refurbished Superchips FlashPaq F5 3845 Tuner for the mighty 4.7L. Supposed to be able to add 18 HP and improve gas mileage. $200. They retail new for $349. We shall see if it's worth a crap!
The Diablo Tuner I had for the Magnum SRT did make a difference when the tune was installed.
Here's an example of Chrysler Ultra-Retarded pricing for parts.
Had the Windshield replaced today and the Glass Installer showed me how the tubing for the Windshield Washer Nozzles mounted in the hood was laying on the cowling. Plastic barbs for the nozzles were broken off and still in the rubber tubing. OK..no big deal...go online to order new nozzles.
Guess what? Those little MFers retail for $27.29 ea and discounted at $19.07 ea! WTF! Not happy with that price scam I started researching online. Found a pair of Aftermarket nozzles on Amazon for $7.50 shipped for the pair with gaskets. Looks identical to the OEM part. Ordered a pair. Hope they don't spray over the roof or onto the sidewalk when installed. I'll give a review when they're installed.
