Cedar Rapids IA West side JY Run

Hey! I stopped at a smaller local junk yard today and took some pictures... they don't have a LOT of LH cars, because they are clearing out EVERYTHING!!! They are shutting down, and just crushing everything in the yard... Duffield is going back to thier roots and going strictly highway and bridge construction.

They have a few buildings full of motors and trannies that were running when pulled, and a pretty good selection of trucks, but not very many cars to be honest. They have at least 3 first gen cars, and I only saw ONE second gen ES with the 3.2. They have a couple of long dumpsters full of all sorts of wheels, nothing I could see in sets though. I took a few pictures of wheels, and a few pictures of some ratty interiors, but you might see something you want.

Nick Hogan and I are probably meeting on Wednesday and going to the yard. I've invited Gorm as well. Anyone else in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa area wanna join us?

I took some pics of LH items and a few other random things... I've got a short shopping list already, but willing to snag and ship what ever. I know VERY LITTLE of prices of anything, but as long as it isn't HEAVY or metal, they'll probably let it go pretty cheap. Some of the wheels I took pics of need paint, but someone might want them. Sorry, only ONE custom tail light... the other side is standard. The cluster is an Autostick one...

I got a lead on a few other yards, one in Rowley up near Nick's place, one north of Vinton, both smaller yards kinda out of the way... Also know about one by Palo, but honestly, I don't know how much of that yard still exists after all the flooding... it was down near the river by Palo.

I stopped this morning to confirm someone would be there, and the guy wasn't real sure because his plans today got changed. But, I've got a cell number of one of the guys in the yard, I've been talking to him a while now to establish that I'm serious about coming out.

What time are we wanting to do this? What time would you be off work, Gorm, if you thought you'd be off early enough? I know that Nick said he was off work Wednesday, but I don't know when he's free the other days or if he'd want to try it even. Right now I have few commitments.

I did go out and look at the OTIS/EVIC, I couldn't get the screw loose with my pocket knife, but I don't see why I can't get it snagged for Alamowx. As for the chrome caps, Status, which wheels were you refering to, the Chrysler 1st gen ones?

I've got to get some yard work done, so I won't be on the board much during the day today... but I'll be back.

Oh, just remembered... They've got a bunch of used tires, and just about ANY used tire is 10 bucks... pretty good price. I have no idea of sizes, but apparently they had some with 3/4 tread that a guy just bought - 10 bucks each, matching set of 4...

I'd love to come out, but it looks unlikely that I could do it on Wednesday. I have all afternoon on Thursday. Perhaps if you guys aren't doing much on thursday we could take a trip down to my yards as well. Haven't been there in over a year and I've been wanting to hit it up.

Been doing some searching on the yards website and I've found that they have several new 300ms and a couple LHS and Concordes. I will probably make a run down to my yards this Thursday when i get off work. (At 11:00 AM) Anyone is welcome to come along. I won't be bringing home anything big...that I know of, so I'll have some room in the car.

I would love to hit up with you guys on Wednesday, but at this point it would be very hard for me to do that.

The yards are over two hours away....planning to leave about 11:00 to get there about 1:00.

It looks like now I may be picking up a new concorde catfish style bumper fascia for my brother...so I don't think I'll have any room in the Intrepid. Can't take the van..so I think I'm a little out of luck for taking people.

Nick you thinking of going to? We could always carpool.

What time you guys thinking tomorrow...i might...stress might be able to make it if its over a lunch hour type time.

You only need a yard tag if your offerin to make a yard run for people, this is more of a meet up and go kind of thing correct?

Eh, both... I've gotten some requests for stuff, some stuff i'm going to snag cause I see others are interested and when I have it, I'll offer it, and also it is a 'meet', but I'm waiting to hear back from Nick, and Gorm can't make it, at least not on Wednesday.

O.k.... well, I didn't hear from Nick, I don't know if they were open on Wednesday or not, but they were closed Thursday and Friday both.

Gorm and I did how ever get together today (Friday) and went to a different yard... we found some nice finds, even came home with a few... Watch for a thread by him some time in the future for some of the more rare parts... we found an item in the yard that Nick will be very interested in... Hahhahaha

I'll not reveil his finds - but one of them was very recently discussed here on the board and will be rather desireable to the OP of that thread... Hehehehehehhe

I'll be going back to the various yards in the near future, and will continue to try to get the items that poeple have requested... besides, a friend of mine wants that generator from the 55-56 truck really bad.

I'll keep ya'll updated.
