See 50 classic cars cruise up the Midtown Mile on Peachtree Street, and then park in front of the High. You'll get a chance to get up close to these rare classic cars and talk to their owners. This event is FREE. I haven't been to see the exhibit at the museum and I won't guess that they're going to pull any cars from the current exhibit (see below), but the High Museum has just finished a three year exchange with the Louvre in Paris, so you know they aren't going to just gather up the best cars they can find in the nearest couple of counties. Neither will "rare classic cars" mean a Pinto with a Mitsubishi engine and Chevy paint. ;-)
The exhibition will present 18 of the world's rarest and most brilliantly conceived cars ranging from the 1930s to the mid-1960s, including masterpieces by Bugatti, Duesenberg, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Ferrari. These cars combine state-of-the-art engineering, meticulous craftsmanship and groundbreaking design to create works of "rolling sculpture."This exhibit is NOT free. Adult tickets are $18 and include all current exhibits. There will be $5 discount coupons at the 10:00 a.m. cruise.
