Pottsville Cruise August 14th

For those looking for a fun time check out the web site for the Pottsville Cruise,

I've participated the past 2 years it is a fun time..

The first Cruise was held in 1994. The Cruise was originated by the Pottsville Pride and Bill Moran, Bill Kline, and Roy Eiler. Over 350 vehicles participated in the first Pottsville Cruise. The second year of the Cruise attracted 1,200 cruisers, thousands of spectators , and numerous porch parties along the cruise route. For the third year of the Cruise, over 1,600 cruisers participated. A few changes were made to the Cruise for 1997. The cruise route was expanded to MarLin and an antique car parade was added to the schedule. Also, the Cruise was moved to a Sunday instead of a Wednesday.

In 1998 the fifth Pottsville Cruise was held. This Cruise attracted 10,000 spectators and over 2,000 cruisers. Over 80 trophies and awards were given out throughout the day. There was also a drawing for the lucky winner of the Official Cruise Car, a 1952 Hot Rod Lincoln. The sixth Cruise was held in 1999. There were more trophies and awards, including awards for the best decorated porches and houses along the cruise route.

Last year's Great Pottsville Cruise was an extraordinary event. Thousands of cruisers participated in the event, and many awards were given out throughout the day. Great music - five big bands entertained the thousands of spectators.

Damn! That's like 45 minutes from Allentown. I'd commit to going but i have another meet to attend on the 3rd of September. My goal is not to do any long distance driving until then. :(

the cruise is fun....the whole city shuts down and they have a 10+ mile cruise around the outer perimeter and down the main street...it's one big party, people lining the sidewalks trying to get ya to burn out, live bands playing along the cruise circuit, it's a wild feeling,

there is a sound competition, a car bouncing competition...

after the cruise there is a light show for those who have neons/strobes and such..there's a flamethowing contest, they chance of a corvette...and finish up with fireworks around 10 PM..

Pottsville is indeed Martz Hall..that's where they line the cars up to start the cruise, the competitions following the cruise are in the upper lot of Martz Hall

I'm definitely planning on being there, let me know, we can meet somewhere outside of pottsville and cruise in together to get lined up together, they basically line the cars up as they arrive, then you can walk around for a few hours checking out other cars, eating etc....

well, since no one else has made a definite commitment to this, I guess I'm pulling out also, I was going to skip a family event to go to the cruise, but at this point it looks like I might as well attend the family event...

maybe next year we can generate some interest
