Tire Set

Would I be able to change my 225/60R16 tires to a set of 225/45R16 tires on my stock rims without modding?

? these are lower profile tires, there will only be more room. There's gonna be a foot between the tire and the fender.

BEEBLEBROX82, I was just wondering, what size are the set on your Intrepid?

Can a 2000 Intrepid, made for 225/60 (R16) tires handle 235/70 tires? They are almost 2 and a half inches taller (and nearly a half inch wider)? I presume I'll need to beware not to get a speeding ticket as the larger tire will show a slower speedometer reading, I think almost 9% (so at a 78 mph reading I'll be moving near 85 mph). But will the taller tire hit the wheel-well when turning or when hitting bumps while driving? Thanks.

I don't want to lower the profile of my tires, but I'd appreciate a little more width for better grip. I tend to push the car a little hard.
