Exclamation DI.net Members

This is to inform you that over the last few months I have been contemplating departing all together from DI.net. I had spoken with Dan / Nick about this last year, and most recently, I had made a few comments on the phone to both.

I have been able to maintain the servers, bills and the decals, but even as of late I have started falling behind because of real life. I had been approached by companies in the past to sell the site, all of which I had turned down because it just didnít feel right, their sales pitch seemed flawed. After talking with Jerry from Autoguide.com, I felt a genuine interest, care and appreciation for the direction DI.net took the current site and where we wanted it to go. This is to let you know that Autoguide.com will now be handling all things DI.net related, indefinitely.

The site will be upgraded to a new server (done yesterday) owned by Autoguide.com. So other than that, it will be site business as usual, just a new go to person instead of me. I will no longer be available to assist you guys.

Autoguide.com brings capital, staff and marketing to really take DI.net to the next level. This means more options and more opportunities for DI.net members, it means a bigger busier site for you guys!

Life is short, we have seen that first hand here on DI.net. It saddens me to leave, but I also feel that I can focus on my personal life and not be disappointing the staff at the same time now.

Thanks to you all for your support and help.

Philip will be chiming in, he is the admin / community manager that will be fielding many of your questions and concerns, including all things related to the DC.net changes that were supposed to take place.

Hey guys!

Just wanted to introduce my self to you all. My name is Phil and I am a community manager for Autoforums.com and will be taking over the WebMaster duties for Rick. I am here to help primarily with the technical end of things and help make your jobs as forum staff easier. I have written up a real basic run down to answer common questions below. If you have more questions or concerns please post them. In the mean time I want to know what you guys need or think needs to be added or changed to the site from a moderator's perspective.

What are our intentions?

We bring reliability, support and the infrastructure needed to ensure that the community will be around for years to come. Itís our goal to work with you to as a team to help provide the resources and required to give this community a broader reach, to attract new members to better the overall knowledge shared in the community.

Will leadership change?

Continuity is the focus here, Your Admins and Mods work very hard to keep the walls and the roof up in this place we are just here to make sure the lights stay on. Every community is unique and should always be respected in that regard. You guys have established your own unique rules and regulations and a strong reputation that is carried by all of this and itís important that we maintain this level of integrity.

What am I here for?

My primary role is to be the technical contact as I said earlier you all built the foundation and keep the roof from falling, I am here keeping the lights on inside. I will be on the forum checking in daily to make sure regular maintenance is all taken care of and keep things running smoothly from behind the scenes.

I do look forward to getting to know you all and this unique community better.

Philip

Rick... I thank you for all the hard work you have put in. A lot of good upgrades have been done to the site and I thank you for it.

Take care of your personal issues, I have heard thru the grapevine that you have been having some health issues. My friend, take care of yourself and your family. That is more important than anything in the world in my perspective. Please don't be a stranger around here... post from time to time. Face it gearheads will always be gearheads...the more the merrier.

I am also thankful for handing the site off to a company that owns a TON of auto forums. A large company as so can have many good things to bring here to an already great community. Thanks for doing the right thing for us and not doing a "business move" and tossing up on the curb.

Take Care and Thanks!

I have had a little time to chat with the staff and have a few things to work on with them. Mostly to make their jobs less time consuming and allowing them to spend more time interacting and less policing.

Welcome Phil. Just wondering is the all in one site that was talked about earlier still in the works or is that idea out the window?

So far I believe the plan is to keep the site dedicated to the Intrepid. Watering down the site will not help the community especially if the information here is primarily dedicated to the Intrepid family. Doge truck people for example would land on this site read a little and probably leave because they don't see enough of what they want. The same thing would apply to anyone who has an intrepid landing here and finding their home away from home.

The Autoguide network has quite a few dodge sites for specific makes and models if you want to find more Dodge info but this is the only intrepid site on the network and I personally like it that way. If you have an argument to the contrary I will welcome a dialog about this.

I don't think you'll get any argument to the contrary. This is great news!

Excellent. I know this is what the membership desires. Keeping it di.net is in the best interest of everyone. I do not think you will have any arguments to the contrary.

Welcome Phil, we look forward to having you here.

Rick, its been a pleasure, take care of yourself man, hope things go well for you.

Best of luck getting your personal things sorta out rick!

Welcome Phil! I'm glad to hear that the plan is to keep the site DI.net, that's what makes this site special: one of the few dedicated homes for crazy people who love these 6-17 year old sedans.

Are there any plans to upgrade the forum software? If there is and you need some new banners designed let me know, I'd be happy to help. I do the banner/logo/general design work over at Cheers and Gears for reference.
