1996 Concorde Trunk Leaking

Hi all,

Here of late, our 1996 Concorde is leaking water from within the trunk (driver's side). The trunk seal is good, and the rear windshield seal looks OK, but water is somehow dripping from underneath the top of the fender.

I assume the water is traveling downhill from another source until it reaches the fender and then starts dripping.

This car has a glass sunroof, and a local glass replacement shop told me that clogged drain tubes (4 ?) can cause leakage into the trunk.

Can anyone else confirm this theory, and is there a way to unclog these tubes with something like string from a gas trimmer?

yah these cars seem to have a leaking trunk issue. my 93 eagle leaks in trunk i had to remove all the padding and carpeting and punch out the drain plug in the spare tire well and leave it like that because it leaks so much. i dunno where it comes from i cant ifnd any reason why it leaks. so i just dont use the trunk i pulled the back seat out and use that to keep my tools and junk instead of trunk. and it has nohing to do with glass top or not min is a base model metal roof.

My 97 Concorde trunk has leaked from the passenger side. It doesn't pool but enough to make things damp if not wet. When I first noticed the leak I also noticed a rusting weld seam in the drain channel around the trunk seal (in corner on the right side). I sealed it with clear silicone and it seemed to stop the leak until the rust progressed and popped the seal open. I have to reseal it but the reality is this car is rusting into the ground. Such as shame given this is the best and longest lasting vehicle I've owned. I also have the factory sunroof but I've not heard of it leaking into the trunk.

Just wanted to followup here...

Evidently, their was seepage between the body panels at the top of the trunk (in the water drain valley) that caused the leak. I fixed that with a thin coating of clear RTV (applied with my finger).

All is well for now, but I'll have this area sanded and painted later on when I repaint the trunk lid.

Blast it!

Hurricane Florence dumped a ton of rain on us, and the opposite side of the trunk leaked as a result. I wasn't aware of this until I started smelling mold, so I removed the spare tire and saw about an inch of water standing in the well.

I filled the gap (as noted in post #4) on the right side with Liquid Nails Fuze It. Fuze It stands up to higher temps than plain RTV according to the phone rep. I found 0.75 floz tube at Walmart for $4.00.
