4605427 PCM 1993 or 1993-1996?

ok im tryign to find out whats going on with PCM 4605427 1993 3.3L federal emissions. according to what i see around thhese were made or used in 1993 to 1996 years various makes models. but in salvage yards they list 1993 only. and has a side note that says ot match service number. same. so therefore if thjey were made and used throguh 1996,. why couldnt i do the same for a replacement for my 1993 one?? im confused??

are these 1993 only as the yards interchange says,. or are they 1993 to 1996 ?? service number 4605427 are all the same regardless of year or not? what is going on here? really?? i need a replacement one for my 1993 and it is 4605427

hi Ron hmm ok interesting well mine is just basic plain-jane non-security system-equipped base-model federal /48 state basic emissions 3.3L base model Vision with the 427 module. . so im going with this one:

4605 427 (Aft. 2-10-93)

so after feb 10 '93 would mean through the '96 model year?? correct?

i should therefore be fine with finding and swapping in any 427 module that i can find on any car built after 2/10/93 through '96 model year on my '93? in theory, based on this info?

and it looks like there were no federal 48 state 93 models built sold before 2/10 93?
and that all the earliest first '93 model year cars were calif only?

from what i am gathering,, from the above listing info? interesting?

not sure why the yards - at least with car-part,com - only list 93 PCM's by themselves, regardless if are 427 or 425 modules etc. for that model year itself. hmm..

and since apparently 427 modules did exist and were installed after the '93 model year then why would they not be included in parts yard searches results as interchangable, when it specifically tells you to match based totally on the module number?

i just now found out to check ECM 60 way pin connector pin number 3 for power red w/ white stripe wire and that ther eis a splice in the wire underside of the rad support sub frame that may possibly be damaged corroded partially or totally and does cause no starts and stalling etc. hopefully maybe this is actually whats going on here with this car, after all this time.

also,o what parts listing is this? a chrysler factory one, or a Hollander's type one or?
thank you!

That would be good for 1993-1994. If you go further down the list there are other PCMs for 1995/1996 with the 3.3L.

I found out many years ago when I acquired my ‘98 Concorde with bad TCM that the interchange lists on computer modules are extremely conservative. I put bits and pieces of info. from this forum together to determine that there was a good chance that I could use a TCM up thru ‘00 (possibly thru ‘01 - ‘01 was an odd-duck year on electricals on our cars). I specifically did not want a ‘98 TCM because they were set from the factory for either autostick or not-autostick, whereas later years would read the instrument cluster and automatically turn itself into either autostick or non-autostick accordingly.

The only other thing I had to stipulate on the TCM was which engine was in the car it came out of because the gearing is different depending on which engine, so the pinion factor for speedometer and odometer would be wrong if you got one from a car with the opposite engine.

I initially made the mistake of telling salvage yards I called from looking up on Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market that my car was a ‘98 even though I was wanting to buy a ‘99 or ‘00 TCM. A couple refused to sell it to me and one said they’d sell it to me but there would be no warranty because the interchange listing did not show vehicle compatibility.

So - long story short, I called one yard and lied by telling them that my car was a 2000. Got the 2000 TCM, it worked flawlessly, today it’s my daily driver - same 2000 TCM in an otherwise ‘98 car (full disclosure: I did swap in a ‘99 2.7 engine after the original ‘98 3.2 crapped out).

hum interesting yeah i do recall having read something about differences in ECM's having programmed in different transsmison gearing ratios and engine RPMs etc. in some cases, hmm.. i just wonder about to what degree for the first few years of these cars?
with them being 1.5 OBD system. instead of being OBD II that the later '95 and '96 up were?
plus the engines fuel injection etc changed to new design style systems in about '95 or '96 as well. so i imagine i could get away with no more later than a '95 one, as long as its OBD 1.5 and not II.

looksd like i should be able to use/swap in a part num 425 or 427 ECM, from a code - T - 1993 to 1995 years with OBD 1.5....... the way it looks or seems., hmm..

and so if the '95 and '96 are OBD II ,, in these cars ,, then thats it. interchange can only be '93/94,. that i can possibly interchange/use anyways.

yeah, that def sounds right, yeah. right on. pretty much '93-'95 was the in-between screwy change over years hmm... the oddball/unique ALDL connector design shape and pins layout etc. cant do nothin with it as far as a scan tech tool etc. withut a special adapter and software stuff etc. hmm.. a real PITA..

both my 95's i've had had that L shaped plugin. fortunately where i worked they had the adapter for their scanner.
don't know if made an actual difference in the engine controller or not.
but better to use similar things.
