Strange behaviour in the transmission

Hello, i have a 2000 Intrepid 3.2L V6, it has only around 86,400 miles. Today i have noticed some difficult to engage to the transmission, going in D and climbing the garage ramp, surely in first gear, i noticed some skid and then suddenly the gear engaged well. Three days ago i noticed same behaviour driving reverse in my parking, just an instant after i started the car. In both cases the skid duration was only an instant, and then, the transmission engaged properly, and in both cases it happened just after starting the car, when car was cold.
By the time, i haven't noticed strange transmission behaviour when driving, nor when the car is already hot.
I serviced transmission with 74,500 miles replacing filter and using Mopar ATF+4, i leave the ATF fluid level just at the mark of the max level in hot, but without overfilling the max mark.
What do you think?
Do you know what is going to break?
Is there any test/check i can do?

You checked the fluid level with engine running, transmission in park, right? I believe the instructions for checking fluid level are stamped on the transmission dip stick.

This - sounds like low fluid level. Please check the level when hot, in parked, and on a level parking lot.

Question - did this just start after the fluid / filter change? The tranny pan might be leaking fluid also....

I did not use the car until today, today I did not notice any strange behaviour in the tranny, no skid at all in D, not skid in Reverse when the car was started and cold. I tested the car during 30 minutes and i tested all gears with the autostick and didn't notice issues. After 30 minutes of driving, I checked the ATF level, I always check it with shifter in P, with engine started, and when car is already hot, the level is still in the max hot mark of the stick as you can see in the picture, so it seems that there ins't leakage of ATF fluid (i do not refill it since it was serviced).
In response to Scooter-Man, this issue not started just after the service, I noticed this last week by first time, and service was done 12,000 miles and 2 years ago.
Dude: can a defective or not well tightened shifter cable cause this behaviour?
What do you think in general about this issue?

Internal Transmission problem(S).

You don't have a check engine light right? Many internal items can cause slipping. Pump pressure, Clutch Volume Indexes Low and the list goes on.

If there isn't a CEL and no codes it's a a "Hard" internal failure of one or more components.

Yep, run it until it breaks. A couple months after I serviced my tranny with fluid and filter, I started losing gears on start up. Drive would engage with slight throttle, but reverse takes awhile to engage. Usually the car has to warm up a little first. Sometimes if I turn the car off and on, I get reverse immediately. Otherwise, the tranny shifts fine. I'm thinking it is the solenoid pack. Changing the fluid probably cleaned out some crud that was inside holding pressures to shift the gears. Probably just going to live with it until it craps out for good.

One thing to consider: There is a transmission filter for some older Chrysler vehicles that will fit into the place of the correct filter for our cars, *BUT* the nipple of the filter that plugs into the fluid pump inlet is shorter than the one on the correct filter so it doesn’t reach the pump inlet.

When I got my first Concorde, I read warnings on a Chrysler newsgroup about getting the wrong filter (dealer parts guys are used to reaching for the other filter out of habit). I dismissed it as a low risk. Darn if the first time I mail ordered the filter from a dealer they didn’t send me the wrong filter. I got to the point of pushing the filter in place, and noticed it fit, but not perfectly - I was ready to put the pan back on, and remembered the warning, so I pulled the filter back out and compared it to the old filter. It was close to the same size and shape, but sure enough, the nipple was considerably shorter. I bought a correct part number Borg-Warner brand one from the parts store, and finished it up.

Certainly may not be the problem here (especially since it’s been a while since fluid and filter were changed), but worth considering.

Another thing I noticed was when I put the filter into the valve body, the o-ring got pinched and wasn't seated right. Glad I saw that. Trying to fit it in the clips while pushing the filter in wasn't that easy.
