Sad Where is the "EBL Button"?

I have a 99' Intrepid ES and I want to check to see if I have an error codes in my "MTC" system. The manual say's to do this;

" (6) Press and hold the EBL button until the Mechanical Instrument Cluster Odometer display indicates an "AC00". The body control module (BCM) will chime once and the MTC A/C button LED will begin blinking.
(7) Release the EBL button and wait until the MTC A/C button LED stops blinking. This means that the error check and climate control unit door calibration is complete."

I feel stupid asking but, where and what is the "EBL Button"????

Thanks!:mg:

Never heard of it being called the EBL button beofre, but I suspect they are taking about the trip odometer button on the insturment cluster. Try it and see if it works.

EBL is "Electric Back Lite" in DC-speak. To the rest of us, it is rear window defroster. They are referring to the rear defrost switch.

I tried this button yesterday but it was pretty cold where I am so the sun was out today and it worked on the first try.
The "EBL" button was the rear window defogger button and the AC00 and other codes displayed on the odometer/tripometer display on the instrument cluster.

I got codes 48 & 50. I had already asked a previous question about why my blower fan would only work on it's highest setting and was told that probably the "Blower motor resistor block" was not working so I hope code 48 will not appear after I install a new resistor block.

Thanks for your replies and help!

I checked the fuse with a ohm and it was fine. Tried exchanging the control panel with two others and nothing. it does not turn on fans, engage the pump, adjust vent doors nothing.

It's possible that someone on this forum may have useable info regarding your vehicle, however you have dug up a thread from 16 years ago on a forum that is specific to the LH platform vehicles that they quit producing in 2004.

Don't forget PCI Bus vs CAN Bus. Electronics in the LX platform are very different from the LH line.
