I did that mod. It worked ok at first, but I later ran into problems.
There was some "bleed-thru" of whatever cd I would have playing in the cd changer. Not noticeable when my phone or tablet was playing audio, but you could hear it faintly in between tracks. I then burned a "blank" audio cd, which solved that problem, until the changer suddenly stopped recognizing the cd altogether. That stopped the aux input from working at all. I went back to regular cd's which the changer would play normally, but SOMEONE broke the screen on my dash-mounted tablet. When I tried to use one of the other tablets I have, I discovered that the broken one was the only device I own with a loud enough max volume worth using. Even my Samsung Note needs an inline amplifier on the 3.5mm line in order to have a decent volume level. The aux line is still hooked up, but I don't even bother to use it anymore. I'm planning on installing a double din Android unit with the climate controls moved down to where the cd changer is now. I'm just a bit apprehensive about cutting and modding the bezel.

Thanks! Good to know. I would have thought the volume would be more than enough when turned up.

I keep thinking I did something wrong when I soldered in the aux jack. That bleed thru from the background cd might be MY mistake. Don't let my experience discourage you. It was pretty good until the one really loud tablet broke.

I tell you, if you want to go the simplest, get a cassette adapter - stays right in the cassette player, has a pigtail with mini phone plug to plug into you phone, MP3 player or whatever. I used one for years and over 200k miles on my daily commutes in one of my Concordes with never a moments trouble. The cord hanging out is slightly unsightly (but no different than a cord hanging out of a jack), but installation time is zero other than one-time inserting it into the cassette player slot (doesnít eject at each engine shutdown - self-starting upon engine restart).

Letís see. Do they still make them? Oh yeah: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/s/ref=i...ssette+adapter

For the mini phone jack in the video, are there any Radio Shacks still around, or did they close them all down yet?

Peva speaks the truth. Unfortunately, I have the head unit without cassette. Had it in the Town & Country, along with the dvd player and rear screen. Man, I miss that setup.

I agree with Peva - I have one of those! For Kicks I might also try one of these highly rated Bluetooth to FM transmitters on eBay or Amazon. I might also burn 6 CDs and actually use the CD player when I get out of range of my favorite Jazz stations.

I have used FM transmitters, and in fact we use one now on a 2015 Mitsubishi Outlander for our added-on Sirius/XM connection to the radio (FM transmitter built into the Sirius/XM unit). Depending on where you live or how much traveling you do, you could be real disappointed. With the limit on power that the FM transmitters are allowed by the FCC for consumer adapters, almost guaranteed you'll loose the FM connection due to an interfering signal from a local station. In many areas - even in some rural areas, even trying a lot of different frequencies, it *will* happen. We travel thru a rural area called Fancy Gap in North Carolina. To tell you how rural it is, it skirts by Mount Airy - the town Mayberry of The Andy Griffith Show/Mayberry RFD was modeled after. And all the way from before Fancy Gap to Winston Salem, we solidly loose our Sirius/XM connection to the radio (using FM) due to local station interference. Even in my semi-rural home area in southwest VA, there are a couple of places in town that the FM connection gets blasted out by local stations. If you live in a metro area, like Washington, DC, totally forget it.

YMMV. I plan to change back to an audio-to-Bluetooth converter (the vehicle doesn't have audio-input jack, but does have Bluetooth, and the Sirius/XM unit also has an audio output jack).

But for $20, you might want to get the Bluetooth-to-FM adapter to prove me wrong and satisfy your curiosity. They have improved over the years, but the brick-wall limitation is the transmitting power that the FCC allows.
