Plenum Project 3.0 Underway...

Plenum project 3.0 underway!

So a while back I tried sanding off the lettering and "lines" off of my spare plenum with my Dremel tool... Didn't get very far and ended up eating up 3 or 4 bits before I gave up. A few of you guys recommended me getting a dye grinder to perform this task. Well, I can't afford a $100 power tool that I'll probably only use once, so I decided since I do have a drill, why not just buy some sanding discs for it and try it.... worked like a charm!!!

This was as far as I got with the dremel tool..

Sanding discs FTW! $2.98 each

Action shot! The process begins...

Driver's side de-lettered!

And then the rest of it...

Now that I have all the lettering and lines sanded down and removed, I can sand the rest of it by hand.

A whole new design coming soon! (as soon as I can buy the paint!)

Here's the original plenum 2.0 project (remove asterik to fix the link!)

FYI, you can probably get an el-cheapo die grinder at Menards (with a pretty good warrenty for being a cheap POS) or HF for like 20-40 bucks... I bought a stainless steel cup brush for mine, and I use it all over the place now...

oops, sorry, I don't know where the Menards/Lowes line is... I have always had a Menards, but were I'm from in Iowa we're now in the mix of all three brands... and I still prefer Mendards. Up here in ND, we've got Menards, and the Home Depots that open up close with in 6 months.
