Skim

Some one give me some ammo/info here PLEASE.

Situation.

Many of you have seen my short block build and knew after I got it together I had a cylinder misfire. Well after hours and hours of fun electrical diagnoses it was determined that the Coil driver went bad for cylinder # 4. I got a different ECM from TorontoFireCapt and instructions on what to tell the dealer to reprogram the SKIM module. I have been quoted anywhere from $25-$400 and i'm starting to get pissed. Originally I had a rear main seal leak so this was put off, now the only thing I need to finish my car and put this on the dyno or track it is the stupid cylinder misfire fixed.

1) the Stealership tells me that I have to buy a new CPU from them because the one I have is locked - personally I think this is BS

2) Anyone have a DRB III scan tool near Detroit?

I know book time on this is .5 hours, why the hell are they being so stupid?

Someone give me an education on this PLEASE.

If you tried to start more than 3 times on a ECM without the passcode then yup.... its toast IIRC.

TFC is the only one I know with a DRB3.

Like Duds said, you might of locked out the PCM. I'll have a PCM and TCM from a '01 PHP M available soon if you're interested. Other than that, I dunno what to tell you.

I started it for the 5 seconds it will run before it is immobilized to test the coil pack. Its fine I'm pretty sure that's BS unless they mean start it 3 times consecutively.

yes TFC is the only one I knew of that had a DRB

No I'm not locked out. Very simple. I burned out a coil driver on original ECU, got different ECU from TFC.

Need 2nd ECU SKIM PIN initialized to original key. TFC said this could be done sent me the instructions on how to do it.

Dealer is a bunch of clowns, I'm not locked out of anything. I started the car for the 5 sec it will run before the SKIM shuts it off, I did this to test the #4 coil pack which did fire on the ECU from TFC. Then reinstalled original ECU did diagnostic again with coil pack ground wire spark plug etc no fire on #4

Dealer has never had the car their service clowns are used to upselling soccer moms on wiper blades and $80 oil changes not someone walking in with instructions and book time. Kindly asking them not to touch anything.

why the dealer keeps telling me it is locked when they haven't even seen it or hooked up is beyond me.

I have PM'd TFC for his expertise.

In that case you have to tell them exactly what you want and do not take no for an answer. They do not understand and you have to tell them word for word what to do, I suggest in written form. If you did not try it more than 3 times you are good.
