If you have the part number of the one you have stock as well as the other one, I can tell you what the differences "should" be.
As far as swapping, you may get a bit different shifting, since the ECM does tell the TCM when it is the optimum shift times.
With only 5 basic HP between the Special and the "other" 300s, unlikely you'd notice much difference in day to day driving. On the track, you might notice maybe 1/10th.
As to whether it is worth the cost of having a dealer reflash it, see above line - sorry I can't be more expilicit, but the improvement overall would be minimal.
Now, if you had an Intrepid ES or R/T, it would be a different matter."
