Tape deck didn't work when I got Spare Parts up and going, but honestly, even if it did, who the hell has audio cassettes these days?
Sure.. I could go out and buy a new stereo, but that takes money(hard to come by these days), so why not take a look around the packrat kingdom and see what we can come up with!
Front audio jack and cord from and old broken puter.
Cut the wires from the plug-into-the-motherboard bit.
Use fingernail clippers to carefully strip the wires.
Remove tape deck assembly..(a few screws and a wire harness that clips onto the main board).
Where that same harness attaches to the tape deck board, carefully pry the cap off.
Bottom leftmost connection is the ground. Fourth from the left bottom connection is an audio channel. Fourth from the left top connection is an audio channel.
(will include a pic in a follow up post)
The cap doesn't quite fit as snug as before with your new wires installed.. but it seems to be holding everything in place so far.
Had to halt project before completely done reassembling the unit and finding a good place to mount the audio jack, will post follow ups when I can work on it again : )
