2001 Backseat Mods

I own a 2001 Intrepid SE, and I have a really nice stereo system installed in my trunk, but the backseats in my car are so thick that a lot of the sound is muffled, and I don't get the sound that I am looking for. If the seats folded down, or had a middle console that folded out, and opened up to the trunk that would work. I don't know if any other year or model Intrepids might have something like this i could swap out, or someone had any ideas for some kind of custom mod ideas for this?

I installed 60 / 40 seats that fold down from a 300M, but for the most part I have a 300M interior. There may be Intrepid 60 / 40 seats that fold down as well.

Concordes have fold down rear seat consoles - leather or cloth depending on the upholstery (LXi or LX, respectively). I have one o' each.

As you might guess, the black leather looks a bit better than the camel cloth:

Later 2002 ES Intrepids with cloth seats have split 60/40 fold down rear seat backs. Not sure on the cloth pattern and colors vs what you have now.

All 2nd gen 1998-2004 LH seats are interchangeable with no modifications. They all bolt in the same.

cool, thank you, maybe ill look in a junk yard or something for a backseat, do you have any idea if those seats fit in the 01 or anything? and if not, im not sure about how to "make them work". say they dont latch or something... that is my biggest concern i think.

not just 2002, my 01 had them before I took them out for leather. I think* it was an option for all years. Nice audio setup BTW!

thanks alot! ill think twice about dual voice coil speakers next time though... unless they are 2ohms or L7s... lol. and this setup might end up changing soon. idk yet.

EDIT:
i hate to though, it looks great...

it is so built to fit, and so tight in the backside, that no airflow makes it in the cab, so that could be alot of my problem. those speakers specs say required airspace is 4.146 or so cubic foot airspace PER SPEAKER thats A LOTTTT of air space... and thats pretty close to what they have... its a good sized box, custom made to fix. i hate to remove it....

My 2000 ES came with no leather and had cloth folding rear seats.

Now days with my 300M seats I plan on cutting out the frame to the section behind the folding armrest. I'll leave the cloth and put some kind of mesh underneath for support, but let that be a pass through for air from the trunk.

"LH" is the two letter designation for the platform these cars are built on: Concorde, Intrepid, Vision, LHS, 300M. We use it as a way to generically refer to all the different models.

Too bad you are in Ohio. I have the split folder out of my '04 SXT I need to junk

yea, i would be interested... ill probly look at a local scrap yard or something, there are two big ones near me ill check out, about how much would i be paying for a rear seat? how much is "to much" for one?? just so i dont go and get ripped off. i would rather a 60/40 than the fold out middle console if it makes a difference.
