More Police Package Questions! Intrepid Wheels

For the upcoming winter season here in Wisconsin, I was thinking of putting the police package Intrepid rims on my 1998 Intrepid Base Model.

I can't see to find any reason why they WOULDN'T fit..does anyone have any experience?

I found another thread on the forum where someone wanted to mount intrepid rims on a 300M and most people said it should work.

My concern is...for some reason I currently have 15in rims on the intrepid...and police package are 16in (alot of intrepid base models are 16in as well) In fact when I first pucrhased the car and went to the auto shop to get new rotors and break pads, I didnt even check the wheel size, assumed they were 16's and had to go back to the store and exchange them for 15's.

Going from 15's to 16's wont make a diffrence will it?

Here is what I have found.

Dodge Intrepid Police Wheels
16 In Dia
7 In Wide
5 Lug 4.5 Bolt Circle
5X114.3 Bolt Pattern

Does anyone know similar information for the Dodge Intrepid Stock Wheels?

ALSO: What would the approprite tire size be for these Intrepid Police 16inchers???

I was looking at the Goodyear UltraGrip GW2's but not sure what size would work...

Police package cars came with Goodyear Eagle RSAs. Treps, 9C1 Impalas/Caprices, and P79 Vics. They all came with Eagle RSA's. However, they are not the best tire when it comes to grip in precipitation (snow, rain, water in general) IIRC they also have a pretty bad treadware rating. I've had great luck with Yokohoma Avid TRZ's on my old 16" rims. Good all around performance.

Ohh I know...Im a police dispatcher and my agency has about 10 dodge intrepids that have been used for auxliary police and community service purposes over the past 8 years...but with the agency switching to Chargers the "Old" Crown Vics are going into the auxliary patrol and the intrepids are going...who knows lol...If the department desides to sell them insted of junk them (and most of them have almost 200,000 miles on them) I would be glad to let the forum know!

Just to add a little info:

The RS-A that comes with the police package is slightly different than the ones you see on shelf. The tread is ever so slightly different, and is wider (all 225 section width though) by about .5 inch. My stock tires actually rubbed the front plastic fender.

They were good for two things only: dry grip, and steering response from a super hard sidewall.

What I don't like about the police rims is the weight; you're looking at 60 lbs for the rim+tire combo, same as most truck tires. My summer rims, 17 lbs 17x8", dropped my 1/4 mile from 16.12 to 15.60, pretty dramatic if you ask me!

Yep. The ones that came with 15" wheels had to come with smaller rotors for clearance between brakes and wheel. The larger (standard) brakes would scrape the 15" wheels. My '99 Concorde LX came with 15" steelies. First mod I did was 16" aftermarket wheels and the larger front brakes (steering knuckles from salvage yard from a car with 16" or larger wheels and new rotors was all that was needed - plug-n-play).

Yea was definatly looking for the extra weight on the winter roads here in Wisconsin...I talked to a few friends with off duty crown vics (decomissioned cars) and most of them like the UG's that have used them. I was not aware that the RS-A's shelf were diffrent though so thanks!
