Black Diamonds

Can you use OEM intrepid headlights to make your own set of Black Diamond headlights? If this is possible how would you do it?

Bake them in an oven to separate the lens and then buff off the chrome and paint. If I had an extra set of headlights I would give it a whirl.... in fact, I should see what LKQ wants for them.

Try to get a set if at all possible from the yard, doesn't LKQ charge quite a bit for used items?

I used a heat gun ...the baking method gave me crazing on the plastic (300 degrees for 10-15 mins)
Check link below my pic for pics of the headlights.. I did mine in flat black.. my new set will be metallic black..
There is a how to .. you might have to search deep in the how to pages to find it.. it MIGHT be on the other site too.. not sure

I do have an awesome Milwaukee heat gun that gets hotter than any heat gun i've ever seen..so that might play a big part in my success vs someone else's with a less powerful heat gun..

Is this not the same as the eBay seller LKQ that has their own website with multiple locations around the country?

Yea, they gotta get those parts from somewhere lol!! There's a local LKQ in Holland. They have a pretty decent u pull yard. They also have a section where I think they keep the newer cars to sell parts from to repair places and Ebay etc.

You won't be able to buff the chrome off without allot of work. You might as well paint it.
