98 Intrepid... PCM Swap...

Well I have a 98 and love the non chipped keys but... I would like a Special PCM. Well I hear the Special PCM/TCM is integral in one unit. Another thing is that they are Chipped. What is the way to go about it. I would like to make the car go 140+ and Rev a tad higher. Is the connectors the same? Can I swap harness and which harness's do I need to swap. Do I need to swap BCM?

Thanks
Kenneth

Not going to happen unless you change the complete electrical harnesses...which then would necessitate a newer BCM, etc. Good luck on the one.

yep, PCM, full engine harness, BCM, SKIM module, better hope it all goes right or you'll lock the car up and have to tow it to the dealer. If you have a 3.2/3.5 you can change the top gearset to the gears that are in the 2.7/special and match the TCM, that will move the power band down and make the car noticeably more aggressive at lower RPMs. Any TCM/gear combo from a car with a 2.7 from 98-01 will work.

If you're rocking the 2.7 then you have different problems.

Add complete body harness and conversion to 02+ electronics in order to install the Special PCM, which was only available 02-04. Requires removal of the engine or transmission, and replacement of the fuel tank/emissions components and several other pieces.

PCM/TCM are integral 2002+, and use the SKIM system. I did this exact swap on my car, but it required basically having a 2002 300M special completely just for parts/wiring, and about 40 hours worth of work total. I did it mostly to be able to have all the options available. The power increase is nice too.
