Took care of some scratches

When I bought my trep the back of the trunk lid had scratches from key marks and had a burnt on dealer tag. I de-badged it, sanded and repainted it with Dulpi-Color's perfect match that carry the PEL (Inferno Red). It is in deed a perfect match. While I was at it I attached some custom lettering.

Just need to wait a week and wash & wax it.

Nice job, did you clear it afterward's, and is the rear bumper a lil faded, or just dirty ?

No need for clear coat, going to polish it and wax it in a week.

The rest of the car is just dirty. Since this worked out very well im going to repaint the old ES bumper I saved and put it on the car.

Sorry Lee, but I think you've got this wrong on several levels.

Wax does not take the place of clearcoat. I don't know why you think that you could just skip this step. If you look on Duplicolor's page for the exact match system, they even list a clear coat part number, so its not like what you used was only meant to be a one stage paint.

You shouldn't wax that soon after painting anyways. You are supposed to let it off gas for much longer first.

If I were you I would go pick up the clear coat, wet sand the color to prep for clear, and then clear the trunk lid. If you don't that won't last or look right for very long. Pictures might now really show it, but there is a huge difference in the look of paint with/without clear on it.

Honestly I don't even like aerosol clears that much, but if that is how you're painting that doesn't mean you should just skip the clear coat.

My car won't ever be done because I'm insane. That is all.

It was only a 10 dollar project. If I really wanted to and had the cash I would repaint the whole car. The reason why I skipped the clear because the paint already on the car looks like crap and faded. It would be silly to put that much into just that section. Matches just fine and it's only going to be on there until I repaint the car in July. Going to paint it black and ghost stripes. Not to mention the only rust that was on the car was that portion I painted because the scratches went to bare metal and from all of the rain last month the rust grew and looked like crap.
