additional 12v sockets

I did several searches on adding additional 12v sockets but had no luck, I am looking to add a few at least one additional outlet for my GPS but would not mind having a extra one or two especially if they are hidden. So if you have any pics of where you added yours or know of any threads that my sad search skills missed please post them up.

Thanks

Wow, you joined in 2004 and only have 13 posts

The earlier 2nd gen LH vehicles(esp 300M and LHS) quite often came with a power port inside the armrest between the front seats. That is where I plug in my cell phone charger on my 2002 Limited. I pulled the parts from an LHS in the junkyard to upfit my 2004 SXT with it. That port always has power to it.

If you got some sort of universal power port, you could probably add it in the glove box or in the armrest where the factory put the second port

I've just begun changing things out after falling into a pit of mod bugs. If you have done any audio upgrades you'll see that there is a whole lot of space behind the accessory pocket down to the left.

I went and got a triple 12V gang box with a pigtail wire, cut off the wire and spliced it into the cigarette lighter plug. Now I've got my ipod touch, nav and xm unit powered up and completely hidden.

Just an idea...

Oh yeah.... if you do this, DON'T cut any wires going to your accessories (ipod/nav/xm). Some of these items (like the xm) draw a different amount of current and you could inadvertently fry your device!!

Now that you mention it I do remember seeing that when I was installing my new head unit, I'll have to take a look at that next weekend. Do you have any pics that you can throw up?
