After much sanding, i finally have all 4 18" Charger wheels painted "graphite". They look much darker when not face-up in direct sunlight, but i'm really happy with the finish. They'll be a huge improvement over the flaky ones i'm running now and i'm only out $12 worth of paint. Larger pics on my Cardomain page:
Going to let them cure for a day or two, then get tires put on early next week.
Thanks, yes, all work done by me. I sanded them all down in my garage. Once they were ready i brought them into work so i could shoot them inside where the humidity and temp were more stable. I can't wait to see them on the car. I've been running the flaky ones so long it should be like night & day.
The paint is just that Duplicolor wheel paint that can be found at most major automotive shops.
No clear yet. The window to clearcoat was within an hour of spraying the color coat, so now i have to give them a few days to cure before clearing them. Should add a nice level of depth to the color, as well as some protection from brake dust and road grime.
Uh...did you not read my last post? The one right above yours...where i mention that i'm waiting a couple days before clearcoating them.
sorry I didn't catch you post on that (my bad) but since your the true pro at this then you already know that your window of opportunity is 12 hours or less for clear coating and not a couple of days you metioned.....if your looking to do it right!
BTW rattle can is not the way to go if your wanting a lasting finish.
