What to do..

As a few of you may know, I recently punched a hole in the side of the block on my second 2.7l (pics will come, as well as a video of the 'hole-y' engine running) and now I want to find a 3.5ho or a 3.2 would be supreme.

The problem is I miss my intrepid already, (this happened Monday) and the only engine I can find is... another 2.7l. (Linky: http://www.sgi.sk.ca/lcgi/salvage_bi...tore=Saskatoon )

It seems as tho 3.5ls are getting harder to find, and I will be a lot smarter this time around if I go 2.7 and do the thermostat, timing chain and water pump with it out of the engine and hopefully get a few thousand miles before she has issues.. And save up for the 3.5 if I see one come up then I buy it then and do a total rebuild on that one...

As it stands I am debating waiting till the end of August and just watch for a 3.5 and go till October and look for another 2.7l, but I could be back on the streets in a few weeks with my car vs. a few months..

Everyone's feedback is welcome and greatly appreciated! I need help quick this 2.7 is here for a week before the auction ends!!

I love my 2.7, but after 2 2.7s crapping out on you, tis a sign of fate my friend. Time to explore the world of 3.x powerplants

If you can get a 2.7L cheap I would do that and start looking for your 3.XL replacement. Once you have the 3.XL in the proper condition, swap it and either keep the 2.7L as a backup or even better sell it for a profit.

I am thinking I may bid $295 on it, doesn't break the bank and if I don't win it, then I try next time and continue my search, but at least then I can get my car back on the road and doing the timing chain, water pump and thermostat while its out of an engine bay will be a bonus, and a lot less frustrating, tho I could put 200 aside now, and wait another week, see what comes up?? I don't want to put out money and suddenly have a sea of 3.5ls I cant afford flood in.

Since you're car is a '99, make sure you do your research on the motor you're looking to pick up. I'm not really up to date on the engine swap compatibility, but i know there are a lot of 2.7 to 3.2/3.5L upgrades that have been done around here. Use the search feature to make sure you're not picking up a motor that doesn't mesh with your model year.

I spent the money and bought a manual from Dan on how to and what fits for the swap, now its just the required funding for the rest of the engine build
