pcm swap

i know this has been asked and said a bunch of times but i was wondering if there was a non-limited federal intrepid for the 02-04 years? or any other LH car that wasn't limited? and if not and the special pcm is the only way to get a higher top speed limiter, then what all would i need to do the swap? just the pcm off an 18" rim special? or are there other parts i would need?

The closest youre going to get for 02-04 for non-limited is going to be a PCM from a Special with the 18" wheels. (144 mph) The Specials with the 17" option were limited to 132 due to the tires.

thats what i figured. and is the only thing i need is the PCM? nothing else? just unplug and remove the pcm from the engine bay of the special and swap it with my pcm?

No. Theres quite a procedure you'll have to get it to work. Hooking the PCM up is the tip of the iceberg. To have a plug and play system you'll need..

-PCM
-matching SKIM
-matching transponder key
-ignition lock cylinder to matching key

Since you have SE wiring, you lack the SKIM connector in the dash harness. So you'll need a dash harness out of a car with SKIM. Now IDK if SKIM came in cars with MTC so you'll probably also have to grab an ATC head and blower motor resistor to make it all work. You will be pulling the dash to change the harness.

Just as an FYI, Michigan State Police got a 136 MPH top speed in 2003 (135 MPH in 2002 and 2004). Don't know if that report is still on-line or not. I've got the *.pdf but it's 2.1 Mb in size so I doubt I can post it.

PS
Here's a snap-shot of the acceleration test page, which includes top speed ...

Hard for me to believe MSP made a mistake like that three years running regardless of the published limit.

Of course, it could just be those badly calibrated radar guns they all use. Ask anyone accused of speeding and they'll tell you they weren't going that fast ...

The DRBIII can change a few things but nothing significant. If you're thinking about changing the top end limiter or timings curves I'm pretty sure you can't.

I'd also be surprised if any production car computer has an easy way to change it's top end limiter without after-market add-ons.

well i know there is software out there for gm computers for guys who swap like a ls1 into an s10 to change top speed limiters and remove the passive anti-theft fuel shutoff. but wasnt sure about chrysler vehicles. well i thought it was worth asking though.

edit: and im not talking about hypertech or anything like that. its a software for laptops
