2.7 Charger Intake?

Anyone know if the lower intake on the 2.7 in a Charger is the same as the lower in the Intrepid? Curious to see if a Charger intake may be able to get squeezed in for a little torque boost.

Almost positive it won't work. Not sure if it would offer any performance gains even if it did though.

The lower intakes are not the same - but are swapable just the same - so you can still put that intake on your motor... I seem to think there are some possible performance gains from running some of the Charger intakes - but I don't think I see any that really warrant the swap

Well I think it'd be worth it if rebuilding an engine though, don't ya think? Not saying the Dirdy's rebuilding, but if he were and wanted more power and was rebuilding anyways, I believe that would warrant it :P Just my $0.02 LOL

I think it was a matter of fitment under the hood that made it not worth doing - but don't quote me, not being a second gen guy, I don't study the options - just have a cursory knowledge of them.

Yes, there would be a difference in performance. Look at how long the intake runners are on the Charger intake. Look how far away the throttle body is. This is how they improved low end torque(maybe some mid). Longer runners = more low end, shorter runners = more mid-high end.

If I could take the upper and lower intake and swap the two(they even use the same plenum gaskets), then I might try it. That would leave me with a better tb option, too. Stock Charger 2.7 tb is 64mm. However, the Charger 3.5 tb swaps out directly and it is 71mm stock. So, a little more low end for off the line, and a higher flowing tb for higher end. Seems like it could be beneficial to me.

I'll take a look at one more closely when I'm at the scrap yard next time.

Post results - I seem to remember this being looked into, and there is a difference in the way they mount - like the bolts are at an angle or something - very close, but not swapable FROM MY MEMORY - so, lets see!

I seem to remember the whole LX 2.7L intake not clearing the hood of an LH if it were to be done.

rons right,, it wont clear the hood,, also,, the new ones use drive by wire, on the throttle body,, but ill bet you could make a adapter to over come that and use a 71mm throttle body

I think your thinking of the difference between how the upper and lower bolt together. The bolt pattern between the two different intakes is similar, but not the same. I seen the angle your talking about in pictures.

Its something I'm seriously going to look into unless the junk yard wants my left nut for one. It'll be a couple weeks, but I'm going to try to get a hold of one.
