is this normal for a thermostat?

here's a few pictures of the thermostat i just took out of my 3.2, not sure if the rubber thing is normal don't know why its there or how it got there if its not supposed to be there, it has the pentastar emblem so im pretty sure it was original. runs a lot cooler now.

That rhythm is INFECTIOUS.

That's definitely OEM. Yours looks better than mine did when I replaced it earlier this year:







I'm surprised I didn't have cooling issues with that thing in there.

Yep that black rubber thingy is the factory t-stat. The one that I pulled from my 2002 Limited was the same

Did you take off that plastic and put de same thermostat again?

a new stat is 12 bucks, and there's no way in hell i would do all that work to put a 10 year old part BACK in the engine.

And not once have I heard you mention all of the cussing you did getting that t-stat housing in and out of the car.
