EGR Blockoff

OK I thought I had seen this somewhere before but I'll be danged if I can find the thread now. Has anybody done an EGR blockoff on a 01 or earlier 3.5? What were the results? Did you get codes or is there a way to trick the pcm into ignoring the lack of egr action? I'm thinking a neat little aluminum plate cut to fit the back of the right head would work fine with the original style gasket, and a couple phenolic plastic plugs epoxied into the intake holes should seal them off just fine. Anyone wanna give me their thoughts or results on this? I don't anticipate it being a big performance gain if any, just eliminating some useless hardware and a source of vacuum leaks.

i've heard it wont throw a code on the 3.x's i did it to our 2.7 (bad egr and this was cheaper) and i got a code but it doesnt affect the running, except it has more power now. (no egr function vs bad egr)

This is an idea, I am looking at rebuilding a 3.5 soon, wouldn't mind ditching the egr myself!!

I know some of the guys that install intake plenum spacers on the 3.2/5's sometimes cap the EGR tubes... heard some say no CELs ever, some say they get EGR codes randomly, some get 'em only after highway driving...

If you check the Intake Spacer threads there's some lengthy discussions...

I think maybe that's where I saw something about it, I remember reading about someone doing it on here but couldn't remember where. I'll go back and search those threads, thanks for the input from everyone.
