01 intrepid rt engine swap

Hello I have an 01 intrepid rt that has 190k and a blown head gasket so i would like to swap a motor into it. The motor is an 05 3.5 and i can buy the entire magnum drivetrain from a relative for $500 including all computers and harnesses. Is this possible if you swap the ecu? Has it ever been attempted? If its not possible what would be the reason? Thanks in advance i tried to search this and couldn't find it...

Magnum is rear wheel drive and Intrepid is Front Wheel Drive. LX cars(Magnum) run on the CAN Bus for electronics and LH cars (Intrepid) run on the PCI Bus.

Your best bet is to get a 3.5L engine from a 1998-2001 LH car for drop in compatability. Either from a 300m/LHS/Concorde/Intrepid 1998-2001

If you can get the whole drive line for 500 someone here might want to it just to try the RWD conversion, but it would be a huge undertaking. Huge. This will not easily swap in at all. Listen to Ronbos advice!!

Totally different electrical system. Not at all compatible. Would not be feasible swap into the intrepid.

I have heard of using 05+ 2.7's in 98-04 LH cars, being that they are similar blocks I dont see why you couldnt do it with a 3.5...of course swapping flywheel, cam sprockets, wiring harness, lower intake, plenum, exhaust manifolds, all brackets/accessories....not sure if all the mounting bosses for the LH stuff would be there or if the motor mount brackets would line up.

just got thru swapping an 2000 3.2 for an 04 3.5 , swaped, harness, flywheel ,,cam sprocket, sensors for crank and cam, install egr & plenum, swaps are all fairly easy wile motors are out,and wile out good idea to change water pump and timing belt.alternator plugs may be diff, can either swap alternator or cut and splice plug.
