Slash or bash

What a halloween. Minutes before I go outside to take my nephew trick or treating I see someone out of my apartment window slash my tires and bash in my passenger seat window!!! I immediately run out to my precious intrepid to find that my money was stolen. The thief got away and the police are unable to do anything. Needless to say I did not get to go trick or treating. I think this is a sign to put a better security system into my car. Can I get a price range and system option feedback please?

Thieves and vandals are two different sorts, why would someone slash your ties when they are after cash?

Why did you leave cash in the car?

How would an alarm prevent this?

What kind of a shitty neighborhood do you live in?

Wow... when I was in 8th grade we took a field trip from the plush safe neighborhoods of Princeton, NJ, on a trip to the UN in NYC... our middle school chartered 3 tour busses, fully decked out (for the time period). While stopped at a stop light, 3 of our 8 tires were slashed. I never got to go to the UN.... we all piled into the remaining 2 buses, and began the trip home - where our buss was then stopped for another flat tire...

So - not in the least bit surprised...

Sorry they took your cash, and destroyed your car. That really blows.

Train horn + Viper security system = A fist full of win! Gives the thief a close heart attack and makes everyone turn their head.

No alarm no matter how good it is or expensive will save the contents of your car. And most can be bypassed and the whole car stolen. I plan to get this http://ravelco.com once the motor is done. 31 years in business and not one car stolen, trashed yes but not stolen.

an alarm will only help alert you if it's paging. Noone looks when they hear an alarm anymore
Better then the expensive, ugly grey plug- wire yourself a hidden kill switch. Millions of installs of them over the years. All police cruisers have one to prevent them from being stolen.

Wire the cig lighter in line so it has to be depressed for the starter relay to throw- or a seperate hidden switch, or the directional circuit...then nothing looks out of place, no master key- no extra fob on the key, no extra key to forget...and nothing for a thief to see- if they steal it after you do that either you forgot to deactivate it or they knew what you did.

Full disclosure- My Ram has a Clifford system installed. It's wired so I can bypass it after having the brain of the alarm and the auto start module both fail causing me to not be able to shut the bloody thing off. Every time I'd shut it down the thing would restart it! Had the tech set it up so I could bypass it if it happened again when they replaced the units.
